In the Giant Mountains National Park, the cycling route markers are different to markers used in areas outside the national park. Here, there are special wooden markers with a picture of a cyclist and the route number.
In zones 1 and 2 of the national park it is prohibited to ride a bike off marked trails. Outside the national park, cycling routes are indicated by markers similar to those which mark footpaths, except that yellow is used instead of white edge bands. Footpath markers can also be followed on wide roads for vehicles outside the national park.
The distances stated are one way only and need to be doubled for return journeys. Distance should be taken into account when combining routes. Route distances can also be measured on tourist maps.

The Monkey Park is the longest rope park in the Giant Mountains. The 432 m-long rope centre with 32 obstacles is situated directly beneath the entrance to the Špindlerův Mlýn bobsled track. The Monkey Park is for everybody, including children over 140 cm tall. It has been designed so that even complete novices or children who meet the height requirement can manage the shortest of the three routes. The Monkey Park’s appeal lies in overcoming obstacles on ropes strung between trees at a height of 3-7 metres. Special “bases” are fixed to the trees between each obstacle, providing a brief resting place as you move from one obstacle to the next.

Disc golf is a popular sport that uses a Frisbee and is derived from classic golf. As in golf, the aim of the game is to complete each section with the lowest number of shots – or throws. The Frisbee is thrown from a “tee” towards the target (hole), which typically is a steel basket. The average distance between holes is usually 50-120 m, and can be covered in three throws. After the first throw, the player throws from where the disc landed and continues until the target is hit. The course is designed to include obstacles such as trees, bushes and occasional water features, enabling players to test their skill with short and long throws and left and right spin. The winner is whoever completes the course in the fewest throws.
The winner is whoever completes the whole course with the fewest throws.
The disc-golf course in Špindlerův Mlýn is at the bottom of the red and black ski slopes at the Svatý Petr Skiareál. The course has nine baskets and is open during the Skiareál Špindlerův Mlýn summer season from the middle of May to the end of October. The course is open each day from 9:00 to 18:00. Permission from the operator of Skol Max Ski School is required to enter the course.

Covering a total area of 26 hectares, the Elbe Reservoir is one of the largest and, according to many, most beautiful bodies of still water containing trout in the Czech Republic. It is right in the heart of the protected Giant Mountains National Park, with pure, cold water from the Elbe all year round making the reservoir a natural habitat for native salmon, while trout and grayling come to the tributaries for their spawning grounds. The combination of the spectacular surrounding countryside, the natural habitat of the brown trout and grayling and the regular occurrence of market-sized and trophy-sized rainbow trout and char make fishing here a highly exclusive experience. Try fishing from a bellyboat on a tributary as the sun rises over the mountains and the still waters around you are disturbed only by the ripples of feeding fish – that’s a morning you’ll never forget.
Fishing permits are available from Milan Pavlík, tel.: +420 603 900 792. Permits can be collected in person from the gamekeeper’s cottage at Labská 30 (crossroads above the Clarion hotel, towards Rovinka).
Price: 400CZK /den – no fishing licence required
